ORANGEVALE, CA (MPG) - With hearts full of generosity and sleeves rolled up, Helping Hands OV - Orangevale - Fair Oaks embarked on a monumental task on April 18, laying the groundwork for their upcoming Big Day of Service Project scheduled for May 4.

Project #47, a cornerstone of their mission, involves the transformation of a local resident's backyard, rendering aid to those in need with a touch of community spirit. The agenda for the day encompasses a multitude of tasks including weed pulling, shrub trimming, and the installation of a vast quantity of mulch.

The Big Day of Service, orchestrated by the Orangevale-Fair Oaks Community Foundation, promises a symphony of goodwill with over 50 projects simultaneously uplifting the community in various ways, from beautification efforts to spreading joy.

In preparation for this grand event, Helping Hands OV forged partnerships with local entities that share their commitment to community welfare. Orangevale U-Haul stepped up, offering a vehicle for the transportation of supplies, facilitating the logistics of the project. Citrus Heights Lowe's, embodying the spirit of corporate social responsibility, generously donated 150 bags of mulch, essential for the success of Project #47 and others alike.

The camaraderie of seven volunteers, spanning generations and abilities, epitomized the essence of community engagement. Together, they unloaded the truck with vigor and smiles, turning manual labor into a joyous endeavor.

Reflecting on the day's work, Connor Manhart, a spirited 12-year-old volunteer, stated, "It was hard and heavy work, but really fun to help," embodying the spirit of selflessness that defines Helping Hands OV.

As the date of the Big Day of Service draws near, the Orangevale - Fair Oaks community is ready to witness the fruits of collective effort, a testament to the power of unity and compassion in fostering a brighter tomorrow.
