On November 6th, Citrus Heights Police officers responded to a robbery at the El Dorado Savings Bank at the 7800 block of Lichen Drive.

Citrus Heights Police Department officers learned a white male suspect entered the bank and presented a demand note for money. The note indicated the suspect was armed with a gun, but no weapon was seen by witnesses. The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of money and was seen running north through the parking lot. The suspect’s physical and vehicle descriptions were broadcast to surrounding agencies.

A short time later, a Roseville Police Department officer located the suspect vehicle in their city. The suspect fled from the Roseville officer, resulting in a vehicle pursuit that led through Placer County into Auburn. Several attempts were made by law enforcement to terminate the pursuit using spike strips. Those attempts were successful and the suspect abandoned his vehicle on eastbound Interstate 80 just west of Maple Road in Auburn. He fled on foot across the freeway, but was apprehended by officers who followed him down into a ravine between I-80 and Ophir Road. Citrus Heights, CHP, and Placer County officers assisted Roseville PD officers with the arrest. Roseville PD K-9 was responsible for his ultimate capture.

The suspect suffered minor injuries as a result of a bite from the police K-9. He was booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail on charges of robbery and a PRCS (Post Release Community Supervision) violation. The suspect is identified as 41 year old Michael Jon Coman of Auburn.

The robbery is being investigated by the FBI and Citrus Heights Police detectives. The apprehension and arrest of this suspect was made possible with the assistance of the Roseville Police Department, the Placer County Sheriff’s Department, and the California Highway Patrol.
