On November 30th, a homeowner contacted the Citrus Heights Police Department to report that her residential video surveillance captured a female suspect stealing packages and mail from her front porch. A copy of the high-quality video surveillance footage was provided to several media outlets and they subsequently aired that footage.
Thanks in large part to the media’s distribution of this video, the police department received numerous tips regarding the identity of the female. The investigation led officers to subsequently identify and arrest the female suspect at her residence on Gold Run Avenue in Sacramento. She is identified as 39-year-old Donna Marie Sieverin of Sacramento, and is on searchable probation in Placer County for a previous burglary offense. This arrest has already solved two of Citrus Heights’ theft cases and the police expect additional cases in both Placer and Sacramento County to be added.
A search of Sieverin’s residence uncovered numerous stolen household packages, gifts, and mail from over 10 victims. The Citrus Heights Police Department will be contacting these victims during the next several days in order to reunite the victims with their stolen holiday packages before Christmas.
The Citrus Heights Police Department is extremely grateful to the news media and the community for their cooperation and assistance. Together through this partnership, Citrus Heights Police Department officers were able to identify, locate, and arrest Sieverin, which undoubtedly prevented countless other thefts in the region.
The Citrus Heights Police Department would like to strongly encourage anyone expecting a package to have it delivered at a time and place where there will be someone available to receive it. Most of the major online retailers and delivery service providers allow for package tracking and expected delivery time requests. It’s helpful to use these features to ensure the safe delivery of your holiday packages.
The Citrus Heights Police Department is actively utilizing “bait” throughout the City to aid in the capture of those suspects who commit similar thefts. The police will not tolerate a few greedy individuals victimizing the hardworking citizens of Citrus Heights, and they encourage anyone who sees this type of suspicious activity to call the 24-hour dispatch center to report it.
