Shortly before 1pm on July 26th, Metro Fire crews were dispatched to the 3800 block of Olivebranch Lane in Carmichael for reports of smoke from an attic. First arriving crews found heavy fire coming from a townhouse and initiated an aggressive fire attack in order to contain the fire to the attic, while protecting the adjacent unit.

With afternoon temperatures over 100 degrees and a well-involved attic, firefighters were prepared for a rapidly-spreading fire. A second alarm was quickly called, bringing the total number of firefighters on scene to nearly 50. Crews were able to contain the fire to the attic of the townhouse, protecting the majority of the living quarters from damage, and completely saving the adjacent home.

No firefighters or civilians were injured, and the damage is estimated at $150,000. The cause of the fire remains undetermined; Fire Investigators were unable to rule out the HVAC system as the cause.
