CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) - The Citrus Heights City Council issued a proclamation recognizing April 4 – 14 as Creek Week 2019 in Sacramento County. Last year, 2,000 volunteers participated in Creek Week at 90 sites throughout the county. Volunteers cleaned approximately 35 miles of creeks, removing over 100,000 pounds of trash from the waterways.
Presented by the Sacramento Area Creeks Council, this year’s theme was Water Colors Our World. Sacramento Area Creeks Council uses Creek Week as an opportunity to educate the public about the aesthetic, recreational, and ecological value of natural creeks and streams.
Councilmember Porsche Middleton recognized Girl Scout Troop 223 for their yearly participation in the Creek Week event: “The dedication you have to the community means a lot to us.”
Creek Week volunteers in Citrus Heights cleaned up Arden Arcade Creek, Cripple Creek, and several other creek sites within the city.
