Covid-19: A Message from Your Citrus Heights Police
Mar 24, 2020 12:00AM ● By By Jason Baldwin, Citrus Heights Police DepartmentCITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) - Since the beginning of this pandemic, our Sacramento communities have pulled together and are doing their part to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus while attending to only essential needs. Your local law enforcement agencies are here to help and work with our communities to be safe and adhere to the Health Orders in place. The police chiefs of Sacramento County, Sheriff, and County Parks Police have all been in constant communication with each other, our Fire service partners, and other public safety departments, including the State Office of Emergency Services. Each of our departments are here for you and working around the clock to maintain your safety and support all in need.
The current shelter-in-place orders issued by the State of California and Sacramento County Health departments are critical to minimizing the spread of this threat throughout our community. Some may be concerned about the enforcement of these orders and the impact on our daily lives.
To this point, our communities have responded admirably. They have stepped up to do their duty either by continuing to provide essential service or limiting non-essential activity wherever possible. It is this type of response that will have the greatest impact on this current crisis.
The goal of the Citrus Heights Police Department, and all of our regional law enforcement partners, is to ensure we maintain a safe environment for our communities. Our main focus is to educate our public on the key points of the current orders, encourage voluntary compliance, and model proper virus mitigation strategies throughout all our cities and unincorporated county.
Our patrol officers are focused on being highly visible and are providing increased patrols at and around our grocery stores and other essential infrastructure areas.
“On behalf of the men and women of the Citrus Heights Police Department, I would like to thank all of our citizens for their patience and understanding during this very trying time. Working together on the common goals of slowing and stopping the spread of this virus, we can beat this thing. It is important to remain calm, use common-sense by adhering to the Health Orders, and take a measured approach to how we react without allowing fear to drive our decisions. Together we will prevail!” – Ronald Lawrence, Chief of Police
“Sacramento County law enforcement is still patrolling our streets to prevent traffic violations and respond to crimes, but we are not stopping vehicles or people to ask if they are following the Health Orders. We believe our communities will do the right thing without our intervention and work together to fight the spread of this virus by complying with the Health Orders.”
