Citrus Heights Offers Free Permit-Ready ADU Plans

Jun 17, 2021 12:00AM ● By City of Citrus Heights

CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) -The City of Citrus Heights is excited to roll out a Permit-Ready Accessory Dwelling Unit Program (PRADU), funded by a grant from the State Department of Housing and Community Development. The City’s PRADU program provides free, pre-approved plans for accessory dwelling units, saving Citrus Heights residents an estimated $7,000. Plans can be downloaded for use by visiting CitrusHeights.net/ADUcentral.

Accessory dwelling units, also referred to as accessory homes, granny flats, and ADUs, are small homes which provide complete independent living facilities on the same parcel as a “primary” home.

ADUs are a great option to provide housing for family, for those looking to downsize, or as an investment for rental income. The City’s new PRADU program eliminates the need to hire an architect, saves time on plan review, and saves money on fees – resulting in thousands of dollars of savings for property owners.

Here are some options on what is available: (1) 1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, 499 SF; (2) 1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, 599 SF; (3) 2 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, 749 SF
