CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) - Citrus Heights City Council is pleased to announce that a contract to hire Ashley “Ash” Feeney as the next City Manager is scheduled for consideration at the January 13, 2022 City Council meeting.*

Feeney currently serves as Assistant City Manager and Director of Community Development, Economic Development and Sustainability for the City of Davis. He has a mix of executive-level experience in both the public and private sector, serving a cumulative eight years in local government and 10 in private real estate development. Feeney holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics with a Minor in Business Administration from Humboldt State University.

“We had several highly-qualified candidates apply for our City Manager role,” said Mayor Porsche Middleton. “As a collective, City Council was very pleased by the amount of interest shown in the position, with so many quality candidates eager to serve our unique community. The skilled talent pool made our decision a difficult one.”

Feeney’s contract consideration comes after a thorough recruitment process, led by City Council, following the retirement announcement of current City Manager Chris Boyd, who has been serving in an interim capacity since May 2021. The position of City Manager is one of the only City staff roles that is appointed by a majority of the City Council. The City Manager’s Office is responsible for planning, supervising, and coordinating the City’s budget, policies, information technology, and general operations. The City Manager supervises executive staff and key managers from each department, including Community Development, General Services, Economic Development and Communications, Administrative Services, and Police.

Feeney is expected to assume the new position on January 30, 2022, pending approval of his employment contract at the January 13 City Council meeting.
