CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) - Two retail Boost Mobile cell phone franchise stores serving customers in Citrus Heights have closed.
Boost Mobile’s retail store in the Greenback San Juan Center in Citrus Heights was operated by Gotem Wireless and located adjacent to the Bank of the West at 7363 Greenback Lane. A business telephone number for its owner, Gotem Wireless, is no longer in service.
Store managers located nearby in the Greenback San Juan Center said the Boost Mobile retail store at 7363 Greenback Lane closed in late December 2021. No notice of the store’s closure is posted in the store window for its customers.
In a web chat response, the two Citrus Heights local franchises, which included 7363 Greenback Lane and 6176 Auburn Boulevard in Citrus Heights were independently owned and operated. Calls to Boost Mobile’s Auburn Boulevard store, also shuttered, were not returned.
Current Boost Mobile customers have two available options for retail customer service in the local area. Retail stores at 10401 Folsom Blvd, Ste C in Rancho Cordova and at 199 Cirby Way in Roseville remain open.
Boost Mobile offers its customers a no annual wireless service contract. Service plans typically include pre-paid unlimited talk and text, and phones from top brands at affordable prices. Customers who need to reload funds on their account can still do so at participating 7-11, Walgreens and CVS stores. Some Boost Mobile phones are also available for retail purchase at Walmart.
Dish now owns Boost Mobile, bringing Dish — after years of speculation — into the consumer wireless market where it is expected to compete with Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile.
As part of the agreement, Dish paid $1.4 billion for Boost and other Sprint prepaid assets. Dish also secured access to T-Mobile’s network for seven years, allowing its subscribers to use T-Mobile’s network while Dish builds out its own 5G service.
According to Boost Mobile’s corporate website, Dish says the new Boost Mobile will have more than 9 million subscribers.
