New DMV Authorized Classic Car Registration Opens

CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) – What used to be California’s part of Historic U.S. Route 40 along Auburn Boulevard relived its glory days this past weekend as approximately 250 classic vehicles made a public showing at Grand Oaks Shopping Center.

The Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce helped host the March 26 car show, Highway 40 Car & Bike Show, to promote the opening of new business and show organizer, Classic Registration Service of Citrus Heights, announcing their new services beginning this April.

Tim Newey, husband and helper to new business owner Marleen Newey, said, “Classic Registration Service will be available to provide Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) authorized services such as issuing registration, license tags, plates, title transfers, out of state transfers and VIN verifications on the spot.”

The Neweys, along with fellow classic car aficionado, John Cano, also staff the Hot Rod Bookstore, the new waiting room for the clients, “which opened about 6 months earlier and sells a great selection of Hot Rod t-shirts, metal signs, art, books and magazines.”

The business, which is now open, is located at 7975 Auburn Blvd, Citrus Heights between Rollingwood Blvd and Antelope Road"'close to Rusch Community Park. Newey said, “The retail locale had been vacant for about 10 years and now we operate from where the old Radio Shack in town use to be.”

Diane Ebbitt-Riehle, Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, helped coordinate with Newey and stated, “Since the lockdown, it has become a real challenge to get people to come out to Auburn Boulevard, but Classic Registration succeeded in bringing all these people, and the business owners in Grand Oaks Shopping Center are really excited. It’s been fantastic!”

Tim said they made sure to include the shopping center’s business people by inviting them to be judges for the show’s winners and thus get acquainted with the Hot Rod crowd attending.
