CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) - At the August 11 meeting, the Citrus Heights City Council heard a presentation about the upcoming Sunday Funday event, which will be held on September 25 from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM at Rusch Park.
The last Sunday Funday was held in 2019, and the City is planning to make this year’s event bigger and better than ever, especially since this year is also the 25th anniversary of the City’s incorporation. The City Council will plant a commemorative tree during the event and a plaque will be installed to mark the anniversary.
The City is hosting the event in partnership with the Sunrise Recreation and Park District and the Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce. Sacramento Regional Transit will provide shuttle service between City Hall and Rusch Park, and there will be a bike valet service onsite at the event.
All activities at Sunday Funday are free, but attendees can purchase food, drinks, and other items from the retail booths.
There will be food trucks, a beer garden, children’s activities, exhibits, live music, police dog demonstrations, and live musical performances by Citrus Heights Community Marching Band, country duo Thompson Square, and Rock from Austin Mo.
Community engagement at the event will include the City’s new beautification truck and block party trailer, historic tours of the Rusch House, antique car show, and a photo display for the 50th anniversary of Sunrise Mall along with plans for the mall’s development through Sunrise Tomorrow.
Event sponsors include Airco Mechanical, Inc.; Assemblyman Key Cooley; California American Water; Dr. Jayna for City Council; Patelco Credit Union; San Juan School District; SMUD; Stones Gambling Hall; Sunrise MarketPlace; and Republic Services.
