CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) - The Veterans Community Center invites the public to attend our 2nd Annual Luau Fundraiser Event from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 6921 Sylvan Road, Citrus Heights, CA 95610.

Our first Luau event was in 2019 prior to pandemic closings and restriction. We are extremely excited to bring back this gala event to our community! All proceeds from our fundraiser events help us provide a free “Safe Room” to all military veterans. We offer various programs, activities, resources, guest speakers who deliver education on diverse topics, mid-day meals three times a week, and several special entertainment events throughout the year for veterans in our community and the surrounding region.

“We invite everyone to come celebrate with us and support our veterans. We invite all military veterans and encourage others to come visit us and learn more about what we do at the center.” Jeanne Rounsavell, President

Our Veteran Ohana event will be held outdoors onsite at our center. Come enjoy a slice of Hawaii with live entertainment with the combination of music by “Nativ Sun” along with island dance performances by “Ka Pã Hula Kalama O Ha’aheo. Savor the flavor of Hawaiian BBQ, sides and dessert buffet, and refreshing fruit drinks. Our celebration will begin with Presenting Colors by local Boy Scout Troop 215. We are hosting up to 200 guests.

Onsite parking is limited, so we have partnered with City Hall located at 6360 Fountain Square (one mile from the center) for free event guest parking in their lot. Free shuttle service will be provided by Airport Transportation by Veteran who will deliver guests from City Hall to our center and back. Shuttle service begins at 4pm and ends at 10pm. Drivers of arriving guests may opt to drop off their party before parking their car at City Hall. It is an evening you don’t want to miss! Get your tickets today! Tickets are $75 for Front Row, and $50 for Center Row. Ask about discount for table parties of 8 or more! Tickets can be purchased at the center Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., or email: [email protected]. Call 916-806-4852 for more information. No alcohol will be served at this event.

At the Veterans Community Center, we strive to provide the absolute best in a haven with solidarity and camaraderie for our local veterans, retired and active, since its establishment in 2013 by the late Jim Rounsavell, and his surviving wife, Jeanne. Jim demonstrated incredible vision and perseverance to help fellow veterans cope, especially those suffering with PTSD and other disabilities. We invite veteran organizations and other community organizations to contact the center to learn more about how they can help with our mission to serve those who have so dutifully served us! Mahalo!
