CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) - The Citrus Heights City Council recently issued a proclamation recognizing the Purple Pageant as a Community Partner of Distinction. The Purple Pageant is a community service pageant where women and girls learn etiquette, communication, and life skills in order to become leaders within their communities.

Mayor Bret Daniels read the proclamation, stating that the Purple Pageant “exemplifies the spirit of unity, creativity, and celebration within our vibrant city.” The Pageant has supported the Citrus Heights community since 2018, with 68 graduates from their program. These volunteers are “the “backbone of our community,” read Daniels, “fostering a sense of pride and togetherness.”

Daniels further read that the Purple Pageant “stands as a symbol of the community with its commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and the communal spirit that makes our city exceptional.”

Mayor Daniels offered his sincere gratitude for the work done by the Purple Pageant as a community partner, as members of the Pageant “devote time and effort” volunteering at various events throughout Citrus Heights.

Purple Pageant CEO Lisa D. Taylor accepted the proclamation, stating, “These ladies work tirelessly in the community. They give, and they give, and they give.” Taylor said the Pageant will continue to focus on teaching “manners, etiquette, and life skills—and this will be the future of the City of Citrus Heights.”

Taylor also shared that the Purple Pageant is hosting the Purple and Gold Gala on January 28 at the Granite Bay Country Club, in support of the Lupus Foundation.

Mayor Daniels said, “It’s not only what you’re doing, but it’s about what you’re teaching. And it’s something that’s so missing, just so missing, from society, and so needed. It’s incredibly wonderful.”
