66th Annual Community Awards Dinner Honors Outstanding Leaders

CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) – Some events are special, some events are magical. When the Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce gets together to recognize people and organizations that have contributed mightily to the city, it creates a different level of gratitude that has a magic all its own.
The 66th Annual Community Awards Dinner, with the theme of “Celebrating Our Community Heroes!” on March 21 did that in grand style at North Ridge Country Club.
“I was delighted and so happy to honor some of the amazing businesses and individuals that make the Citrus Heights community such a wonderful place to live, work and play,” said Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sheri Merrick. “The evening was magical, and it was amazing having so many of our community leaders in attendance. We look forward to another amazing event next year.”
Michael R. Korpiel, DHA, FACHE from Dignity Health was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Chamber Board Chair, Dr. Gabrielle Rasi presented the award to Korpiel.
Sacramento County Supervisor Sue Frost, District 4, received the Community Advocate Award. Past Chair Al Gonzalez presented the award to Frost.
Judie Cooper received the Volunteer of the Year award. Kids Helping Kids was named the Youth Volunteer of the Year. Citrus Heights HART received the Nonprofit of the Year award.
Capt. Matt Sammons was named Special Operations Firefighter of the Year. Assistant Chief Chris Greene presented the award.
Capt. Daniel Hanson was named Police Officer of the Year. Chief Alex Turcotte presented the award.
Ryan Becker was named the Ambassador of the Year.
In addition, outgoing 2023 Citrus Heights Chamber Board Chair Gonzalez was presented with the award by 2024 Citrus Heights Chamber Board Chair, Dr. Gabrielle Rasi.
Rasi is from the Almond Orchard Dental Care and has long appreciated the Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce.
“What a wonderful evening we had honoring our community heroes. This is why I love being a part of our Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce. I’m honored to be the chair for 2024 and I’m grateful for the passion, time, energy and commitment of our board and our sponsors. Without the help of the board and sponsors, it would not have been such a spectacular evening.”
