SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - San Juan Unified School District Board members, transportation staff and community partners cut the ribbon to a greener future for the district on July 25.
Six new electric school buses were recently added to San Juan Unified's fleet, marking a step towards reducing diesel emissions and fuel costs. Nearly identical to its fuel-operated counterparts, these fully electric vehicles are also quieter than traditional school buses, allowing drivers to better monitor passenger conversations and behavior during routes.
After concluding the ribbon cutting ceremony, attendees hopped onto one of the electric school buses for a mini field trip to Arcade Middle School.

These buses were made possible through the Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation grant, and collaboration with community partners including SMUD, Sacramento Air Quality Management District, Model 1 Bus Sales and KMM Construction. The district looks forward to continuing sustainable operations through "greener" energy sources.
