CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) - Ever wanted to fly like Peter Pan? Let Wendy Fuentes, owner of Wild and Fly Fitness Bungee, show you how.

Get ready to strap yourself into a harness and take flight in an aerobic sling bungee workout at Wild and Fly Fitness, which celebrated its official grand opening Nov. 7 in Citrus Heights.

On Nov. 7, city officials and Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce members toured the facility and officiated a ribbon cutting.

Wild and Fly Fitness Bungee Studio is located at 8215 Auburn Blvd. in Suites B, C and D in Citrus Heights, where the Costume Junction, a retail theatrical supply store, was formerly located. One suite hosts scheduled yoga classes, while the adjacent studio is configured and rigged for bungee fitness.

Fuentes, who was born in Mexico and now lives in Roseville, has a son, daughter and granddaughter.

“As the owner of Wild and Fly Fitness, I’ve embraced fitness as a transformative journey, one that’s about more than physical health. My passion for wellness began with my own exploration of personal development and self-care, discovering how movement and mental well-being are so deeply connected,” Fuentes said.

“Our goal at Wild and Fly is to become a trusted fitness destination for the entire community,” Fuentes added.

Fuentes said the Wild and Fly opening was a year in the making, requiring structural engineering evaluation of the two studio spaces and construction of a steel supporting cage in the ceiling to support the collective weight of 15 bungee workout participants at any given time.

“I chose sling bungee because it’s a fun, accessible approach to fitness and offers high-energy, low-impact exercise that’s perfect for anyone looking to improve strength, endurance and balance without straining joints,” Fuentes said.

“At Wild and Fly, safety is our top priority,” she said. “We understand that trying a new fitness experience for the first time, especially when it involves equipment like bungee cords, can raise many questions.”

“We are a Sling Bungee affiliated studio and as such, our studio is designed with and follows rigorous safety protocols,” Fuentes said.

Bungee workouts are typically low-impact, full-body cardio that use heavy-duty bungee cords to perform classic bodyweight exercises, actively engaging multiple muscle groups simultaneously, providing a full-body toning experience.

Once safely strapped into a supporting harness, participants will bounce, twist and soar through the air, Fuentes said. The heavy-duty elastic bungee cord creates a resistance to work against in a way that feels more like play than exercise, according to Fuentes. The dynamic nature of the movements promotes flexibility and enhances overall agility for everyday activities, all while challenging the body's range of motion.

“Our facility layout is designed with plenty of space between individual bungee stations, allowing full freedom of movement and ensuring each participant has a safe, comfortable workout zone,” Fuentes said.

“At Wild and Fly Fitness, we believe that fitness should be as enjoyable as it is effective and I wanted to provide a welcoming environment where everyone feels encouraged to ‘FLY (first love yourself)’ and reach their full potential,” she said.

Fuentes recommends that interested first-timers should check with their healthcare provider before determining that a bungee workout is safe to do.

“As the owner of Wild and Fly Fitness, my journey has been all about finding innovative ways to empower others through education, fitness and self-care. I have always been passionate about creating a space where people of all ages and abilities can experience unique, uplifting workouts that benefit the body, mind and spirit,” Fuentes said.

Upcoming classes will include various styles of yoga, specialized pelvic health classes for men and women, healthy aging classes, and rebound classes for lymphatic cleansing, high-energy circuit classes and “Mommy and Me” classes to strengthen the bond and provide a support group for mothers/caregivers.
