SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA (MPG) - Sacramento County Public Health (SCPH) has earned national accreditation from the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB), a testament to its commitment to improving the health and well-being of residents. This accreditation validates Sacramento County Public Health’s dedication to providing high-quality public health services and bolsters its ability to address emerging health challenges.
“This achievement demonstrates our capacity to meet the highest standards in public health and strengthens our ability to reduce health disparities and improve outcomes for all County residents,” said Dr. Olivia Kasirye, Sacramento County Public Health Officer.
The accreditation process required Sacramento County Public Health to meet national standards for public health practices, developed by Public Health Accreditation Board in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The accreditation efforts included a comprehensive review of policies, procedures and strategic plans, and a two-day site visit.
The Sacramento County Public Health accreditation team developed a Community Health Assessment and a detailed Community Health Improvement Plan to address local health priorities. Sacramento County Public Health also updated its strategic plan, developed a workforce development plan to ensure staff readiness, and implemented a health equity action plan aimed at reducing health disparities.
Sacramento County Public Health strengthens its ability to secure funding, invest in long-term community health improvements, deliver quality services, respond to public health emergencies and foster innovation with this accreditation.
This achievement is not just a reflection of the department’s efforts but a vital step toward building a healthier, more resilient community in Sacramento County.
