SACRAMENTPO, CA (MPG) - Troopathon, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the brave men and women of our Armed Forces, is excited to announce that Pacific Gas and Electric Company will host its Annual Christmas Care Package Party as the featured volunteer group. Joined by volunteers from Safe Credit Union, FedEx, and military members who have received care packages while overseas, this event will bring holiday cheer to deployed service members worldwide.

The event will involve assembling and shipping over 2,000 care packages, each personally addressed to troops deployed far from their families this holiday season. Each includes Christmas stockings, candy canes, and a heartfelt message from supporters. Thanks to Safe Credit Union’s partnership with See’s Candies and the See’s for Soldiers Program, the packages will also include premium holiday chocolates to make the season even sweeter.

“PG&E is proud to host this meaningful event with Troopathon and serve as this year’s featured volunteer group,” said Jessica Smith, community relations specialist at PG&E. “As a company with deep ties to the military community, we’re honored to volunteer and contribute to this effort and ensure our service members feel remembered and appreciated this Christmas season.”

“The holidays can be a lonely time for deployed troops,” said Scott Raab, US Navy Veteran (OEF/OIF) and Troopathon Outreach Director. “Through these care packages, we hope to remind them they are valued and not forgotten. We are deeply thankful to PG&E, Safe Credit Union, and FedEx for helping make this event possible.”

The event will take place at the Troopathon Operations Center on Dec. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., where PG&E employees will join volunteers from other partner organizations to assemble the care packages for shipment.

The annual Christmas Care Package Party is a cornerstone of Troopathon’s mission to support deployed service members year-round. Since its inception, Troopathon has shipped over 1,000 tons of military care packages to troops overseas, ensuring they feel the love and appreciation from home.
