CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) - Wishes can come true but it takes many “wish makers” to truly make that happen.

Jessica Rowell-Greenfield, the owner/operator of Miller’s Ace Hardware at 8077 Madison Ave. in Citrus Heights, is counting on such “wish makers” and invites shoppers at the store to round up their purchases and generously donate in support of World Wish Month and Make a Wish.

“Our goal is to raise $10,000 to help grant a wish for a critically ill child here in Sacramento,” Rowell-Greenfield said. “There are 250 kids waiting in Sacramento alone who have a wish they would like to have come true.”

Miller’s Ace Hardware, which employs adults and youth with cognitive disabilities, is named after her son, Miller, who has faced and overcome multiple neurological challenges.

Make-A-Wish, a national nonprofit foundation, has been an especially important charity to her because her son, Miller, was a Make-A-Wish recipient.

“Miller had wanted to attend a police graduation ceremony and Make a Wish made that possible,” Rowell-Greenfield said.

Recently, their personal journey was featured on a “Good Day Sacramento” news segment.

Make-A-Wish began in 1980 and has granted hundreds of thousands of life-changing wishes to children battling critical illnesses, according to the foundation’s website.

“We’re grateful to the community for their support of this important cause and to our customers who are not just making a purchase, they’re becoming wish makers for wish kids when they need it the most,” Greenfield said.

The next two months will be especially busy for Miller’s Ace Hardware. The business is a sponsor and event supporter of the upcoming multi-community “Big Day of Service” event on Saturday, May 17 and is also preparing to celebrate its second anniversary on June 27.

“Our two-year anniversary is going to be quite a celebration,” Rowell-Greenfield said. “We’re very grateful for the support we’ve received of the local community since we opened. Our customers come to value the high level of customer service and welcome they receive here when they shop.”

Miller’s Ace Hardware at 8077 Madison Ave. in Citrus Heights is located across the street from the Fair Oaks Library. Store hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.
