Citrus Heights Water District Recognizes Young Artists

CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) – The Citrus Heights Water
District (CHWD) announced the winners of its annual Water Awareness Poster
Contest, which featured the theme “The Traveling Water Droplet.”
The Citrus Heights Water District and three of the neighboring water agencies hold an annual poster contest to promote water awareness. Students from four local schools submitted 273 colorful and imaginative entries, each capturing the remarkable voyage that water takes through our environment. From clouds to faucets, the creativity displayed by these young artists impressed judges and community members alike.
Congratulations to the winners within the Citrus Heights Water District service area: winner Lyra Rutherford in sixth-grade with sixth-grade teacher Susanne Slayton from Woodside K-8, runner-up Liliana Hodges in fifth-grade with fifth-grade teacher Sallee Weston from Trajan Elementary School and runner-up Sophia Richards in fourth- grade with Christy Blake, teaching third and fourth grade combined from Trajan Elementary School.
“To all the students and teachers, thank you for your enthusiastic participation in the poster contest and for creating such wonderful posters about the water cycle,” said Ray Riehle, Citrus Heights Water District board chair. “Your artwork not only showcases your creativity but also demonstrates your understanding of this important natural process. We are delighted to feature your work and we know that your posters will inspire and educate your families, friends and everyone who sees the calendar.”
The Citrus Heights Water District extends its heartfelt congratulations to the winners and sincere thanks to all participants for helping illustrate the importance of water in such a meaningful and artistic way.
