SACRAMENTO REGION, CA (MPG) - Nearly 180 days have passed since a Powerball® ticket matching five winning numbers – 6, 15, 18, 33, and 49 – was sold by the Atlantic Richfield Company AMPM (ARCO) gas station on the corner of Marconi Avenue and Eastern Avenue in Sacramento.
The ticket is worth $1,391,550 and is set to expire just days from now, on Monday, June 16, 2025.
For now, there’s no way of knowing who purchased the winning ticket for the Dec. 18 draw. Powerball winners in California who match five numbers have 180 days from the date of the draw to claim their prize. If no one submits a claim in time, the nearly $1.4 million prize money will instead be allocated to public schools in California.
The California Lottery (CA Lottery) exists solely to generate extra money for public education and has raised more than $1 billion just in unclaimed prizes since Lottery tickets first went on sale in 1985.
Should the winning ticket not be claimed in person or received by the California Lottery with a postmark on or before Monday, the prize funds will be added back to the total funding for California public education.
The extra money supports programs at both the high school and community college levels. California Lottery funds provide critical program support, as well as financial assistance to alleviate the material burden for students, enabling them to stay in school.
