CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) - A new Mancini’s Sleepworld mattress store is set to open in the Citrus Town Center later this year, filling the location of a former Sketchers store which moved to the corner of Sunrise Boulevard and Greenback Lane in the Marketplace at Birdcage.
A broker representative for the Sacramento office of Jones Lang LaSalle Brokerage Inc. (JLL) that manages the Citrus Town Center in Citrus Heights confirmed the recent lease signing that was announced in recent marketing materials for the shopping plaza.
An opening date has yet to be determined, said Torren Ragan, Jones Lang LaSalle Brokerage Inc. senior associate of retail.
“We’re excited to have Mancini Sleepworld as a new tenant,” Ragan said.
Adjacent retail stores next to the new Mancini’s Sleepworld store are Half Price Books, Marshalls and Five Below.
Mancini's Sleepworld, which has its corporate headquarters in Livermore, has 32 retail locations located throughout the United States, including a recent new Roseville location at 10333 Fairway Drive, Suite 160.
A corporate representative for Mancini’s Sleepworld did not respond to an email and phone request for comment about the upcoming opening.
A retail manager at Mancini’s Roseville store, spoken to by phone, confirmed the upcoming Citrus Heights store opening but would not confirm any additional details.
“In terms of target opening date, I’m not exactly certain but based on the deal structure and points, Mancini’s should have a target opening before the end of the year,” Ragan said.
Ragan said that his brokerage is continuing to lease the largest two vacant retail stores in the Citrus Town Center.
The former 16,240-square-foot former Rite Aid store located at the corner of Sunrise Boulevard and Arcadia Drive closed in 2018 is described in the brokerage marketing brochure as a junior anchor position. The store has seen periodic seasonal use since its closure as a Rite Aid as a Spirit Halloween store.
Ragan said he’s hopeful that a new tenant for the former Rite Aid can be found.
“On the former Rite Aid store, I would just state that all options are on the table for the next tenant/business. We have also explored demolishing the building,” Ragan said. “As for the former 11,700-square-foot Party City store at 6400-A Sunrise Blvd., which is a relatively recent vacancy, we have had written interest in the building.”
The major party retailer closed all stores in early 2025 after nearly 40 years in business. Its Citrus Heights location closed in April.
“Based on the current market, we should have elevated interest in this (Party City) space in comparison to the Rite Aid building,” Ragan said.
Jones Lang LaSalle Brokerage Inc. (JLL) also manages Greenback Square at 8029-8027 Greenback Lane, which faces the Sunrise Mall, and the Greenfaire Village at the corner of Greenback Lane and Fair Oaks Boulevard, both in Citrus Heights.
The Citrus Town Center, located at the busy intersection of Greenback Lane and Sunrise Boulevard, is part of the Sunrise Marketplace, a 10-block regional shopping destination, directly across from Sunrise Mall.
