SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - American River College Freshman Dylan Westbrook from Oak Ridge was named to the Rawlings Pacific Division All-American third team, according to ARC head baseball coach Doug Jumelet.
The announcement was made on June 3 and Westbrook was named first team All-Northern California as a Utility Player because he both hit and pitched for the Beavers. He is the Beavers first All-American since Andrew Lojewski from Woodland, who was honored in 2013.
Westbrook hit .360 on the season with nine doubles, four triples and seven home runs. He also drove in 37 runs. He walked 24 times while striking out just 19 times.
Westbrookâs on base % was .503 and the seven home runs that he hit were the most by an ARC player since Joe Evans from El Camino, who belted nine dingers in the year 2000.
On the mound Westbrook had two wins and three losses as well as a pair of saves. His ERA was 5.90 on the season in 10 appearances, with six of them being starts.
"Dylan is obviously a really talented player, but he still has room to improve. He is a great teammate and is a big reason why we made the playoffs this season" Jumelet said.
Westbrook was one of only four players from the BIG 8 Conference to earn All-American honors.
