CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) - Do you know a business in Citrus Heights that goes above and beyond? Now is your chance to publicly recognize them.
The city of Citrus Heights has started a new quarterly “Business of Distinction” award program, inviting nominations from the community to recognize the individual businesses which make daily life in Citrus Heights a better place to live and work, said Marissa Brown, city communications officer.
Nominations for this quarter were due by Oct. 9.
The public will have an opportunity to vote for their selected nominee at www.citrusheights.net/1447/Business-of-Distinction-Awards from Oct. 16 through Oct. 23, according to Brown.
Multiple nominations have already been received, she said.
Starting this fall, the city will award one “Business of Distinction” each quarter, Brown said.
The first quarterly “Business of Distinction” award will be presented by city leaders at the annual State of the City event held at City Hall on Thursday, Nov. 6.
“Every cycle will highlight a new theme, with nominations and selections tailored to celebrate different strengths of our business community,” Brown said.
For the city’s first award, “Civic Heights,” the community was asked to nominate a business in the city which embodies the core values of Citrus Heights: diversity, innovation, integrity, teamwork, respect, responsive customer service and trust.
A Citrus Heights legacy business will then be honored with a Business of Distinction Award during the city’s winter quarter nomination cycle.
The spring 2026 quarterly theme is “Top of the Trade,” honoring those whose professional skills and service are among the very best of the best. The city’s summer 2026 award category is “Blight to Bright”.
“The Business of Distinction awards program is represented in the city’s Economic Development Work Plan (as a) goal to launch a quarterly business recognition program which highlight local business success stories and contributions to our community,” Brown said.
“Local businesses not only drive our economy but they also embody the values, innovation and resilience that define our city,” she said.
“By establishing a business recognition program which promotes individual success stories through the city’s targeted communications, the city’s Business of Distinction Awards program also seeks to provide recognized businesses will gain increased exposure to potential customers, investors and the broader community,” Brown said. “Through these awards, we celebrate their contributions and share our community’s appreciation for the role they play in shaping Citrus Heights.”
