CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) - Ruby Miller, a long-time Citrus Heights resident, will be joined by family and friends in November to celebrate her 100th birthday.

She was born Nov. 19, 1925, in Oklahoma and lived in several homes near her birthplace until she married Charles Miller in 1945.

Along the way, Ruby Miller graduated from Meeker High School in 1943 and worked at Douglas Aircraft in a “Rosie the Riveter” type job. Charles was already in the Navy by then and moved his bride to where he was stationed in Oak Harbor, Washington.

As a Navy wife, she moved from coast to coast in the United States and spent two years in the U.S. Territory of Guam. The couple and their four children settled in Citrus Heights in 1962 after Charles Miller’s 20-year career in the United States Navy

Even after buying their home in Citrus Heights, they lived in the San Joaquin Valley, in Southern California and in Arizona for several years where Ruby Miller began her career with J.C. Penney’s in 1973.

Returning to Citrus Heights in 1980, she continued with J.C. Penney’s at the downtown Roseville store and transferred to the Sunrise Mall store where she worked until retiring in 1986.

Ruby Miller is still maintaining residence at her Citrus Heights home and is an active member of First Baptist Church of Fair Oaks where she has many friends.

Her husband and two sons have passed away and her two daughters, Bonnie Miller and Cande Ackler still live close to Citrus Heights.

The youngest of her great-great grandchildren, Everlee Ruby Meadows, was born in 2025, 100 years after Ruby Miller was born.

Most of her seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren (and one more coming in spring 2026), along with other relatives and many friends will be at Ruby Miller’s 100th-year celebration in November.
