CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) - Veterans Day will be observed on Tuesday, Nov. 11. This important day honors the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. It is distinct from Memorial Day, which honors those who made the ultimate sacrifice and did not return home.

Originally known as Armistice Day, commemorating the end of World War I, Veterans Day has evolved into a day to recognize and remember all who have served our nation over the past 250 years.

Each year, Sylvan Cemetery in Citrus Heights proudly honors those who have worn the uniform of the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. National Guard in defense of our country. We take this time to salute the more than 40 million Americans who have served since 1775.

This year’s Veterans Day Service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at Sylvan Cemetery, 7401 Auburn Blvd., Citrus Heights, at the gazebo.

The program will include special music, guest speakers, a rifle salute and the playing of Taps to conclude the ceremony. Folding chairs will be provided for seating, and additional standing room will be available.

Please join us in honoring our veterans — and remember to always keep them in your hearts and in your prayers.
