CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) - Citrus Heights has a new place to satisfy your sweet tooth. Nothing Bundt Cakes in the Sunrise Village Shopping Center celebrated its official grand opening with a morning ribbon cutting on Oct. 23, hosted by the Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce.

Invited guests, including City of Citrus Heights representatives, state and county officials as well as the office of U.S. Congressman Ami Bera; each presented official certificates of recognition to owner Irfan Mehmood, his wife, Toheedu Sadiq-Mehmood and store manager Hoai Tran, before returning inside to try one of 14 different cake flavors made daily at the store.

The grand opening celebration also drew the attendance of quite a number of Citrus Heights Police Department officers, including Police Chief Alex Turcotte, who watched observantly to be sure his officers didn’t get a dollop of sweet, cream cheese frosting on their dress uniforms.

Nothing Bundt Cakes describes itself as the “Number 1 specialty cake company in the U.S.” according to the company’s website. The first Nothing Bundt Cakes bakery opened in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1997 and the chain has grown to more than 600 locations, including five others in the Sacramento region.

Beautiful, individually handcrafted bundt cakes are offered in a variety of flavors and sizes, such as Bundtinis, the brand’s cupcake-sized bundt cake, larger-sized Bundtlets and full-sized Bundt Cakes which can be adorned with a variety of decorations suitable for “just because” moments and special celebrations.

Inside the Citrus Heights store, a display case full of colorful bundt cakes in some 14 different flavors, offers customers a feast for the senses.

Flavors include red velvet, chocolate-chocolate chip, white chocolate raspberry, lemon, strawberries and cream, confetti, carrot, and Oreo cookies and cream.

Customers can choose from 8-inch, 10-inch or a tiered bundt cake, which are crowned with Nothing Bundt Cake’s signature cream-cheese frosting, said store manager Hoai Tran. Tiered bundt cakes are perfect for weddings and baby showers, and sample designs are featured in display.

Treat yourself to a bundtlet, an individually packaged treat in one of your favorite flavors, which might be perfect for everyday snacking or gifting.

Another popular option might be the Bundtini, a bite-sized version of the bundt cakes sold by the dozen, which are certain to please a curious crowd.

Additional gluten-free flavors include lemon raspberry and a chocolate chip cookie flavor.

“I’m excited to welcome everyone to our new Citrus Heights store,” Mehmood said just after the ribbon cutting.

The Citrus Heights store is both locally owned and operated. As an owner, Mehmood said, he looks forward to his store and his staff quickly becoming part of the community. Mehmood said that he also believes in giving back to the local community and is anxious to get to know and work with area civic groups, schools and nonprofit groups to support their special events.

Mehmood put his belief into practice later in the day as selections of Nothing Bundt Cakes were donated as raffle prizes at the recent annual Citrus Heights HART Spaghetti Feed held at the Citrus Heights Event Center.
