CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) - Construction of a new indoor trampoline park, the Fun City Adventure Park located in the Citrus Grove Shopping Center on Auburn Boulevard is quickly nearing completion, jumping towards an opening date likely in early 2026, according to the company.
Exterior signage and a “coming soon” banner are in place in the front of the building and a marquee sign has been added to the bright orange Citrus Grove Shopping Center sign facing Auburn Boulevard. While temporary plywood panels obscure the street-level interior view, lights were on inside the building revealing some of the interior detail.
Last February, Fun City representatives, based in Blackwoood, NJ, disclosed plans for their first Sacramento area site in the Zinfandel Crossings retail center in Rancho Cordova, in a space previously occupied by 99 Cents Only Stores. The company has also announced plans to open another park in Rocklin, according to its website.
The former 39,300-square-foot building at 8525 Auburn Blvd. in Citrus Heights was previously home to a Big Lots store which closed in January 2023.
Co-tenants in the Citrus Grove shopping plaza include Wells Fargo Bank, Gold’s Gym, Jack in the Box, California Burger and Greenhouse Café and Catering.
The national chain operates similar indoor adventure parks in states including Michigan, Connecticut and New York, with each location offering a range of family-focused attractions and private party offerings.
Representatives for Fun City did not respond to a request for comment regarding a specific 2026 opening date.
According to the site plan submitted to the city of Citrus Heights last March, the indoor play area will consist of multiple types of play equipment, including a 90-degree slide, zipline, swings, trampolines, obstacle courses, a swinging bridge, balance beams and climbing structures such as a transparent climbing structure, cube climbing structure, a climbing wall and more.
Another section of the play area includes a bubble soccer field, a skyline climbing course, a foam pit, a dodgeball field, “ninja” and “Super Mario” courses, and a trampoline obstacle course. The site plans indicate that ceilings will be left exposed.
The property sits along a high-traffic corridor that sees more than 43,000 cars daily, one block from Interstate 80, according to the Santa Ana-based Red Mountain Group which handles leasing for the plaza.

The Citrus Grove Shopping Center is within the city of Citrus Heights Auburn Boulevard Enhancement Plan, which includes infrastructure upgrades and commercial revitalization efforts. Construction of Auburn Boulevard Phase 2 street improvements are continuing and a new gateway arch which is included in project plans is being built just south of Whyte Avenue

Within the same shopping plaza where the trampoline park is under construction, a Ukrainian church has submitted architectural plans for their newly acquired 50,500-square-foot commercial space next door which they intend to remodel into a new sanctuary for their congregation.
Spring of Life Church purchased the vacant building for $3.95 million in the fall of 2023, according to prior reports. Previously, Studio Movie Grill had once planned to occupy the original space.
The city confirmed that Spring of Life has applied for Use and Design Review permits, and the design remains under review at this time.
