The Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Dec. 10 attended by city, county and state representatives to recognize and celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Narenj Mediterranean Grocery in business in the city of Citrus Heights and the recent expansion which aims to better serve its customers.

Owner Konstantin Khoury and his family gathered to cut a bright red ribbon and welcomed guests and customers who gathered for the ceremony to enjoy tasty samples inside.

The Narenj Mediterranean Grocery is located near the busy shopping plaza at the corner of Sunrise Boulevard and Antelope Road, home to In Shape Fitness, Leatherby’s Ice Cream and the Galaxy Game Café.

The name “naranj” is the Arabic word for orange, a fitting choice of name for a grocery doing business in the city of Citrus Heights.

Vice Mayor Mari Jane Lopez-Taff, now the mayor of the city, presented Khoury and his family with a proclamation, recognizing the ongoing success of the grocery, and its ongoing support of the community.

Narenj Mediterranean Grocery at 7700 Sunrise Blvd., Suite 1300 offers fresh halal meat, fresh fruits and vegetables, traditional sweets as well as Persian and Arabic bread. The shelves are plentifully stocked, and the selection of merchandise is diverse. Helpful staff are quick to translate a product label when requested.

Recent construction and expansion into an adjacent suite allowed Narenj to offer a variety of fresh halal meat to its customers. New refrigerated display cases were installed in the new space offering customers a wide selection of fresh meats at affordable prices, Khoury said.
