CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) – On Friday, Feb. 13 Dutch Bros will host the 8th Annual Dutch Luv Day benefiting Sunrise Christian Food Ministry. For every drink sold Dutch Bros donates $1 to their adopted charity. For the Sunrise Food Ministry, this event has raised more than $50,000 to date helping local families facing food insecurity.
In anticipation of this fundraiser a dozen local Dutch Bros employees descended upon the Sunrise Christian Ministry Food Closet (SCFM) for their annual day of service.
According to April Jacek, director of operations, Sunrise Christian Food Ministry, “The team helped us pack seven pallets of donated food and beverages. We distributed food to 150 households and 25 homeless guests.”
Following their work at the food closet, volunteers did double duty delivering bagels and cookies to the annual Firefighters Fill the Boot for Burns fundraiser which took place from Feb. 4 to 7 at the intersection of Greenback and Sunrise in Citrus Heights. All funds raised go directly to the Firefighters Burn Institute (FFBI) to help burn survivors and further burn care and education.
Sunrise Christian Food Ministry reported record demand for food assistance in 2025, driven by the holiday season and the government shutdown, which strained many local households. With community support, the ministry met increased needs and began the new year with stocked shelves.

Throughout 2025, Sunrise served nearly 30,000 households, reaching 86,000 individuals. The ministry placed special emphasis on seniors and individuals experiencing homelessness.
In total, Sunrise has distributed approximately 2.3 million pounds of food, including 1.8 million pounds of recovered food from partner grocery stores and 500,000 pounds of fresh produce and canned goods from federal programs and Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services, with the help of more than 150 volunteers, who contributed a combined 15,300 service hours in 2025.
“Special events like Dutch Luv Day help us meet community needs in ways we otherwise couldn’t,” said Jacek. “Large, unrestricted donations allow us to expand our services and provide food to more people.”
