CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) – Representatives of McKallen Medical Training Institute in Citrus Heights celebrated the completion of remodeling and expansion of the facility with a commemorative ribbon cutting ceremony on March 4, hosted by the Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce.

The institute is located at 7816 Uplands Way behind the Sunrise Village Shopping Center.

Citrus Heights city communications officer Marisa Brown presented a certificate of recognition on behalf of the city to its local program director Sade Stephenson, RN, MSN AGACNP-BC and Curtis Nash, director of partnerships and workforce development, from its Ontario office. Other representatives of area elected officials extended their best wishes in recognition of the institute’s recent expansion.

Stephenson gave invited guests a tour of the Citrus Heights training facility which realistically recreates the professional clinical and hospital environment students will encounter in the field.

The McKallen Medical Training Institute, based in Ontario, CA, offers entry-level training pathways in a wide range of healthcare careers to perform both the clinical and administrative duties typically required in a medical facility.

Some 1,100 students have completed classes at the Citrus Heights facility since the Citrus Heights center opened in 2023, she said.

“We’re actively looking to partner with local high schools to enroll high school age students age 16 and older who are interested in beginning a healthcare career and we also welcome those adults who are considering a second career,” Stephenson said.

“In fact, one of our recent graduates was 73 years young,” she said.

“This added space will help better serve our students as we grow and serve the local community,” she said. The recent expansion added two additional training suites and two classrooms.

Upon course completion, students take their required state certification examinations onsite in its computer lab. Tutoring assistance is available and job placement assistance is also offered, she said.

Current training courses include Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), medical assistant, same day cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification, IV therapy and blood withdrawal for licensed vocational nurses (LVN) and EKG technician certification.

Students can also train in phlebotomy to perform blood draws, learn to work as a pharmacy technician, or develop skills in medical billing and coding career pathways.

"Our mission at McKallen Medical Training Center is to emerge as the leading choice for entry-level healthcare certifications and continuing education nationwide,” she said.

“We’re committed to delivering comprehensive and high-quality medical education and training programs, ensuring that every patient in every bed is cared for."
