CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) – Honey Donuts, located at 6401 Antelope Rd in Citrus Heights was recently named the recipient of the Winter 2026 Business of Distinction: Legacy Award.
According to the city, the locally owned shop, which has served Citrus Heights since 1997, has built a reputation for classic donuts and standout service. According to a city newsletter, nominations for the shop highlighted the personal touch from employees such as remembering customers’ names and orders, lending to high customer satisfaction. The Legacy Award recognizes Citrus Heights businesses with 15-plus years of service and a strong community presence.
Applications are now open for the Summer 2026 Business of Distinction: Pride of Place award. The Pride of Place Award recognizes businesses that have made significant contributions to activating and improving their space. This can include facade upgrades, site improvements, place making projects, new occupancy of a previously vacant space, or other efforts that result in visible reinvestment. Applications open April 10 and close May 22.

Food and beverage workers facing hardship can apply to receive grants through Restaurants Care, a nonprofit relief fund through the California Restaurant Foundation.
Eligible events include illness, injury, natural disasters, death in the family, or housing emergencies. Grants of up to $2,500 are available and do not need to be repaid. The program is open year-round.
