CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) – Hundreds of families attended the Lichen Elementary School Cultural Fair on Thursday, April 23. From an international fashion show to global fare, the event was a true celebration of the San Juan Unified School District’s diversity.
The students held a cultural fashion show, wearing traditional attire representing their heritage, while attendees participated in hands-on activities like maraca-making and European-inspired watercolor art, and enjoyed food that showcased a variety of cultures. The Sacramento Republic FC had a World Cup-themed booth to connect kids with soccer, giving them a shot to test their skills, play games, and win prizes.

It also created a meaningful opportunity for the San Juan Unified School District to connect with families and share information about free Transitional Kindergarten (TK), helping parents learn about early education opportunities while already gathered in a trusted school setting. Registration is open for the 2026-27 school year. Kids who will be four years old by Sept. 1 are eligible to attend. The district is encouraging parents and grandparents to learn more about free TK in San Juan Unified at www.sanjuan.edu/TK.
