CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) - The graduating class of 2026 at San Juan High School, wearing their bright red cap and gowns proudly walked down a length of the new running track of renovated McArthur Field in San Juan Stadium last Friday evening, to the opening music of “Pomp and Circumstance,” as family and friends looked on.

There were plenty of smiles to be seen, and cheers to be heard, as Spartan seniors, a graduating class of more than 130 candidates for commencement, many wearing sashes celebrating academic and personal achievement, each walked past the grandstand prior to the start of the first graduation ceremony held on the new field.

Last year’s graduation ceremony was held at Mesa Verde High School due to the start of a major construction project on campus.

San Juan High School marked the completion of its newly modernized football stadium with a ribbon-cutting ceremony April 23 as members of the McArthur family who attended celebrated his dedication to the high school and its students.

The upgraded facility features include a new synthetic track and field, two tennis courts and improved amenities, including a ticket booth, concession area and a restroom building.

More than 15 different languages are spoken at San Juan High and six graduating seniors were asked to deliver a welcoming message to attending family and guests in their own language.

A slight breeze kept the hour-long ceremony generally cool as Principal David Levis introduced the San Juan High School Class of 2026.

Jordi Valencia delivered the salutatorian address to his classmates and Brenda Navarro was the class valedictorian. Both will be attending the University of California, Los Angeles in the fall.

Individual class members who completed AVID, Continuing Technical Education (CTE) training, and minimum admission requirements for California State University and the University of California were recognized for their grade point average achievement, Golden State Seal of Merit, Seal of Biliteracy and Seal of Civic Engagement.

San Juan High School principal David Levis reminded the Class of 2026 how far they had both come together as a class since their freshman year, when he first became their new principal and welcomed them on their first day to high school.

“It’s been one of the joys of my professional life as your principal to see each of you strive for success and now fulfill your dreams,” he said.

“We wish you our very best, wherever life’s journey takes you. Carry with you the pride of being a San Juan Spartan – and the very best wishes of all Spartans who have gone before you in whatever path you choose, with courage, conviction and pride.”
