CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) - Today’s modern golf cart isn’t made for just the course.
Whether you’re cruising the neighborhood, managing a property, or simply upgrading your fleet, the Electric Golf Car Company, a family-owned business located in Citrus Heights since 1996, stands ready to power your journey with efficiency, style and confidence.
The company recently celebrated 30 collective years in business, including its most recent 10 years located at 6150 Auburn Blvd. on the corner of Greenback Lane and Auburn Boulevard, next to Judy’s Cleaners.

Citrus Heights Mayor MariJane Lopez-Taff and council Member Dr. Jayna Karpinski-Costa joined state and county elected officials and fellow community leaders to celebrate the occasion last week with a special ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by the Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce.

The Electric Golf Car Company offers two-passenger, four-passenger and six-passenger electric golf carts, including lifted models and fully street-legal Low-Speed Vehicles (LSVs). Custom builds and upgrades are also available, according to Pravin Tandel.

Street-legal LSV models are equipped with headlights, brake lights, turn signals, mirrors, seat belts and vehicle identification number (VIN) numbers for registration in the state of California.
“We also offer a wide inventory selection across all price points, accept most trade-ins, provide financing, and offer a discount for cash purchases,” he said.
Today’s modern golf cart has come a long way from their post-World War II Cushman counterparts that revolutionized the industry and became an integral part of the golf course landscape across the country.
“And, yes, we still work on those older (Cushman models) from time to time,” he said.

Through the years, the Electric Golf Car Company has sold thousands of different electric golf cart models in the greater Sacramento County region.
If you are planning to drive your EV cart on city streets, cruise your neighborhood, run local errands, or pick up the kids from school or sports, a regular golf cart won’t do. Only street-legal vehicles are allowed to legally ride on California public roadways.
New cart sales have typically averaged between 250 to 300 each year, Patricia said. Much depends on new cart availability and supply which are imported from China and then assembled in the United States before being shipped across a national dealer network for delivery.
Pravin Tandel bought the business from its original owner, and son Sandeep and his wife Patricia oversee day-to-day business operations.

According to the owners, the Electric Golf Car Company in Citrus Heights doesn’t just sell golf carts – it helps you truly elevate the quality of your ride.
Customers are encouraged to browse store inventory online or schedule a consultation to select and customize the perfect electric golf cart to fit their specific needs.
The company specializes in “helping individuals, families and businesses find the perfect cart for neighborhoods, communities, resorts, commercial properties and recreational use,” according to company marketing materials.
Much of the strength of the overall family business is in the quality of lasting relationships which they have built with their customers over 30 years, and each electric golf cart they have tended to from initial sale to service.
“We cater to our customers service needs and requirements whether done in house or out in the field,” Patricia Tandel said.
Modern golf carts include manufacturer-backed warranties covering key components, but warranty details vary by model.
Batteries and charging system problems are common issues, and unlike an automobile dealer, a drive in for service isn’t always possible, the owners explained.

Carts are sold with traditional lead-acid or advanced lithium battery systems. Lithium batteries provide longer lifespan, faster charging and minimal maintenance.
Much of their overall business involves customization services, parts and maintenance services, Patricia Tandel said.
“We treat all our customers like family, and that’s a cornerstone of our business,” she said.
Popular accessory items include lift kits, premium wheels and tires, LED lighting packages, sound systems, upgraded seating, extended roofs and lithium battery.
Electric Golf Car Company carries inventory from manufacturers such as Evolution and Star Ev as well as a selection of used/factory refurbished inventory from Ezgo, Club Car and Yamaha.
The company is passionate about delivering high-quality electric vehicles that combine innovation with everyday practicality.
“Whether you're looking for a street-legal cart, a lifted off-road model, or a custom build with upgraded wheels, sound systems, lighting, or lithium battery technology, we can provide solutions tailored to your needs,” Patricia Tandel said.
The Electric Golf Car Company recently began to carry a small inventory of the Mokwheel Tor Plus, a Class 2, entry level, fat-tire electric bike designed for commuting, adventure riding and daily use and has a maximum speed of 28 miles per hour.
“We’re concerned that this model and all e-bikes are properly used by their owners’ safety and responsibly,” she said.
