Board Elects 2026-27 Officers, Welcomes New Trustees

SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - The Sacramento County Board of Education selected its officers for 2026-27 during the July 14 board meeting. Mariana Corona Sabeniano (Area 2 Trustee) will serve another term as board president and Vanessa D. Caigoy, MBA (Area 4 Trustee) will be board vice president. 

Prior to selecting its officers, the board welcomed back Mariana Corona Sabeniano (Area 2 Trustee), who was re-elected unopposed and extended a warm welcome to its newest trustees, Dominque Donette, M.Ed. (Area 1 Trustee) and Annie Fischer (Area 3 Trustee). They will each serve four-year terms ending in 2030. 

Dominque Donette (Duh-nay), M.Ed. (Area 1 Trustee), who was sworn in the week prior, leads government affairs work across California for EdVoice. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley, a master’s degree in education policy and management from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and a master’s degree in educational leadership through the Broad Residency in Urban Education. 

Annie Fischer (Area 3 Trustee), who was sworn in the day before the board meeting, is a California state employee. She earned a bachelor’s degree in anthropology with a minor in U.S. History from California State University, Fullerton.
