CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) - Antonia and John Rowdon, franchise owners of My Salon Suite, welcomed guests to a grand opening ribbon cutting last Saturday at the Sunrise Village Shopping Center, located at the northwest corner of Madison Avenue and Sunrise Boulevard near Village Way in Citrus Heights.
The event celebrated the leasing of 36 of the location’s 39 fully furnished individual suites, which are designed specifically for health and beauty professionals.
My Salon Suite in Citrus Heights is one of three regional franchise locations which are owned and operated by husband and wife John and Antonia Rowdon. Their other franchise locations are open in Natomas, Rocklin and Folsom.

Invited guests, suite lessees and their families attended the Saturday afternoon reception. A bright red ribbon stretched across the open sliding door of each of the 36 leased suites, where owners welcomed prospective clients to step inside and learn about the personal services they offer.
During regular business hours, a Wi-Fi security camera screens clients outside before they are let into the front lobby for appointments at My Salon Suites before they are let inside. Once inside, a large display screen directs clients to the numbered address of each individually leased suite by owner name, specialty and current walk-in availability.
“We were hoping to schedule a commemorative ribbon cutting ceremony with the Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce, but they weren’t able to accommodate a Saturday event,” Antonia Rowdon said.
The Rowdens hosted a special grand opening event last Saturday featuring a commemorative cake cutting, a complimentary taco bar on the back patio and presented individual gold scissors for each suite lessee to use to mark the occasion.
The couple recalled that the total number of signed leases at their Citrus Heights location earlier this summer started less than their other Natomas, Rocklin and Folsom locations, but were pleased to see demand quickly caught up.
Some 20 health, beauty and wellness professionals were among the very first to choose to lease from the Rowdons, instead of choosing to do business in a traditional “brick and mortar” location.
“Each suite has everything one would need to start working from day one,” Rowdon said. Featured amenities include a premium reclining stylist chair, a dedicated hand sink and stand behind shampoo bowl, built-in cabinetry for organized storage and a full-length, lighted LED mirror.
An individual suite at the Citrus Heights facility measures 145 square feet and is entirely private, with a sliding glass door helping to keep outside noise and distractions down.
“We take care of the essentials, so they can enjoy a clean, secure and professional environment every day, and fully focus on their craft,” she said. “Our fully-equipped suites fit their needs and allow for countless personal touches, from paint to décor, ensuring that their suite is exactly that – theirs.”

All utilities and business-class Wi-Fi are included in the rental of each suite. Overall construction took four months to complete, gutting the interior of a 7,334-square-foot former brewery restaurant which had sat vacant in the Sunrise Village Shopping Center for several years.
Before interior walls could be built, new waterlines providing service to each of the individual suites which feature a dedicated hand sink and stand behind shampoo bowl needed to be installed, she said.
The 14.8-acre Sunrise Village Shopping Center is owned by Merlone Geier Partners in San Francisco. Major anchor tenants include Starbucks, Grocery Outlet, Visionworks and Club Studio fitness. Luxury Nail Spa of Citrus Heights also recently opened just doors down at 7837 Madison Ave.
Based in Dana Point, California, the parent company of My Salon Suites has expanded from two locations in Louisiana to 400 stores across the U.S. and Canada.
