CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) – One of Citrus Height’s biggest and most beloved fun Halloween family traditions returned last weeks as the Citrus Heights Police Department’s annual “Trunk or Treat” event transformed the grounds of police headquarters into a spectacular costumed world of some rather spooky, family-friendly fun.
A good-sized crowd turned out for the event held just before sunset in their favorite Halloween costume and just say “Boo!”
The popular annual event was held on Thursday, Oct. 29 from 5 to 9 p.m. at 6315 Fountain Square Drive in partnership with Sunrise Recreation & Park District and the Citrus Heights Police Activities League (PAL).
“Trunk or Treat” also offered plenty of fun for grown-ups too, many of whom dressed up in costume, while little ones in their favorite Halloween costume stopped by to meet CHPD officers and then take a peek into the trunks of some very decorated police vehicles complete with cobwebs, spiders and skeletons to receive their favorite candy and special treats.
The evening was perfect for the inner child in all of us who are still a trick-or-treater at heart, still looking for a brightly lit front porch on Halloween night.

The scene was eerily festive as characters from the movie Toy Story mingled with Harry Potter-inspired wizards and other creatures of the night.
And absolutely no one was afraid of any ghosts in the city of Citrus Heights, so long as the white and red Ghostbusters vehicle was on the case and parked just outside of CHPD headquarters.

Representatives from the Sacramento County Police Chaplains, the Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce and the American Legion Auxiliary also provided treats during the evening.
According to CHPD, its annual “Trunk or Treat” event helps to build trust and connection between families and local law enforcement, while giving kids a safe, fun Halloween experience. The event provided an opportunity for many to meet local officers and K‑9 team in a festive, family‑friendly setting.
CHPD extended a huge thank you to all its community partners for helping to make this year’s “Trunk or Treat” at CHPD headquarters even more special.
